A St Patty's Day Of Celebration!

After my last blog post, Dave came down and asked if I wanted to paint the town... Green!   That is right, there was a bunch of St Patrick's Day stuff going on in downtown Kenosha.   And I thought there was only going to be green beer and bag pipes....

Well I was wrong. ( Kind of!)   Not only was the beer green,   but they turned  the entire BAY Green! Nicely done!   I wonder if the fish were confused.

We missed the Parade, but I heard it was better than the 4th of July Parade!   And with the Bagpipes and drums marching within,  I can only imagine.    The crowd was HUGE and I was impressed we found a parking spot.  ( Dave's car is nice and small and fits in places that would otherwise be inaccessible.)  We snapped a few pics of the green water then headed off to the first bar.

The Starlight lounge!   The first stop on the Pipes and Drums Pub Crawl. The place was packed!  But Dave and I managed to get a front row seat to the event!

It was great!  I love the Bagpipes!   Leave it to a bunch of drunken Germans celebrating an Irish Holiday with a Scottish Instrument of War!  (That is right!  Bagpipes were used in War!  Even outlawed by the British in 1746.  Those British....) Technically, This is America!   Where things get a little blended.   And honestly,   Drinking is the one thing all three cultures can get behind.... So I guess it fits!  Who am I to judge? I'm German and Irish on my Mother's side. And I enjoy beer and music and even War!  ( As long as I'm no participating in it.... That is the Swedish part of me.) Thus...  This Holiday makes a lot of sense to me.

After the Starlight,  The group went to Mason's Eatery and Pub.   Another Mad House!  The place was packed, but we did manage to bump into several acquaintances there.   Dave knows just about everybody in Kenosha, so it was a perfect mingle for him.   I met only a couple of folks who I found familiar.  (What can I say,  I'm socially awkward and introverted.)  The sound was not quite as good as it was in the Starlight, but it was still a fun time. (I imagine with each bar giving band members free drinks... The quality of the  sound is bound to suffer a touch....)

Now I know that they were planning on wrapping up the night at the Clubhouse, but after two Pubs in a row, ( that were beyond capacity!)  I decided that I would skip that one.    I showed up to the Clubhouse early and wished Lidia a Happy Birthday.    I even folded her  a flower!

The Clubhouse was relatively quiet when I showed up around 4 PM.   Happy Hour was still going on and they had  Reuben Sandwiches as the special for St Patty's day.  I have been in The Clubhouse when it was standing room only, and it loses its appeal very quickly.   I'm not a big fan of crowds.

And so, I'm calling it a night and decided to blog about the experience.   I seem to have been blogging a lot lately.    Possibly because I have the time and am actually doing "Blog Worthy" things. It could also be that the kids keep bothering me to write more.   It does help one's motivation to write if there is a hungry audience asking for more material.

Hmmm...

Not only does it encourage me to find material to write about... But it also helps me to actually put it down instead of letting the moment slip by.   Who would have thought?

Is this Blog worthy?

Time to wrap things up here.   Tomorrow will be a Laundry day and a bit of prep for Monday.   I can only imagine what that day will bring.    But we shall face it when we get there.  For now...  Embrace the peace and make every second count.

Enjoy the video!
