Finally! No wonder people never want to take up the art of Origami. Or are amazed by people who complete a complicated model. It is an investment in TIME!
And, let's face it, Time is the one thing we have a finite limit on. Who would want to waste time on folding paper?
Then again, Video games eat up lots of time. And all of those apps the kids spend time on.
I guess we are all "fools" when it comes to spending our time. (But only from other people's perspective.)
One of these days I will write a blog post about my perspective on the value of certain video games. In short, I don't think they are entirely bad. But I digress!...
The Origami Ancient Dragon is complete and ready to get out of my sight. I already hate it. I can't take a decent picture of the thing for the blog! And I did not like how the Modge Podge set up. I used a brush that was not entirely clean and now the thing looks dusty or dirty. Stupid! Stupid!
Ah well. ( Shrug.) It's always the finishing that gets you.
That being said, I actually think this was one of my best foldings of this model to date! It actually looks a lot like the pictures you find on line! And I folded it with a heavy construction paper instead of the thin stuff. Perhaps I'm getting better at Origami...
In addition to the Dragon, I wanted to post the pics of the Lunar Eclipse. Yes, I managed to get up around 1:50 AM to go out and see the event that was near its pinnacle.
Although my camera was not the best.... I did manage to get a few decent pics of it. I
It was a LOT smaller in the middle of the sky than it was near sunset. An effect I like to call "Horizontal Magnification!"
( At term I just made up!) It is actually a thing... Here is a nerdy explanation. Basically, it is an illusion because the Earth's atmosphere acts like a giant lens.
I'll stop there and let you read all the article and get smarter. ( For the kids who stumble onto this blog.)
Where was I? Oh yes! The Moon! I did not stay up for the complete eclipse. I was so tired that those last 10 minutes seemed above and beyond.
But I was happy with the thought that I got to witness it. And I had the live stream on my Computer where the telescope had the event captured in higher quality. I think the livestream was somewhere near here, so the pic was the same time frame as mine. AND the picture was of a better quality.
Yesterday was Friday. Dave wanted to get Yuan out of the house since he has been holed up in his room for the last 4 days and has not come out except to eat. I assume he is playing video games or watching Tic Toc videos. But I think Dave was worried he was feeling imprisoned and wanted to have an "intervention."
So we took him out for a walk.
I, somehow, got dragged along. I had just run my daily 6 miles. ( That's 36 miles for the week!) I must have created a new routine since I am now calling it "my daily run." I don't think I will be able to continue that distance once classes resume. But for now, I'm impressed I have been able to stay with it this long.
Getting back to Yuan... I think he liked it. Fresh air... Sunlight... I know he was not as enthusiastic about it as I'm sure we had hoped he would be. I would compare it to throwing a kid in a swimming pool: The water is cold at first, but then you realize it was a hot day and the water is fun to swim in! Only, he never wanted to get wet to begin with...
Ah well. We all have to experience things we don't want to do now and then.... And although you may never get comfortable being uncomfortable..... You can always use a little practice being miserable.
Friday was also "Fish and Chips" day at the Clubhouse! I do so enjoy the Perch Dinner with an adult beverage. ( IPA) I spend most of the time folding paper and sipping a beer as I watch the big screen sports. Sometimes I listen in on people's conversations or talk to the bartender. Most of the time, I simply "People Watch." (Or as I like to call it: Chaucer's Favorite Pastime.) A fun distraction from being alone. And it helps create Characters in my library of unwritten novels.
Today I guess there is a St Patty's Day Guinness run? I "like" running but am not fond of Guinness. Therefore, I skipped the "Beer Mile." ("Ill run a mile for a beer, but the beer had better be good!) There is also a "Pipes and Drums Pub Crawl" today. Looks like they will be dropping in at the Clubhouse at 9:00 PM! Since I love Bagpipes and drums, I may stop in to see what all the hubbub is about.
Who would have ever thought that St. Patric's day was a weekend long event. ( Will there be green beer?)
Well, there is more to life than music and beer. But I do believe this event might be "Blog Worthy." So there is incentive to go and check it out. If for no other reason than to get out of the house. Unlike Yuan, I am not a fan of being inside for too long. ( Maybe I will drag him along... It will be "Fun!" I'll tell him.) We shall see.
Only a couple of days left in the Spring Break and I am trying to prepare... Mentally... For School to begin and catching up on all of the end of third quarter grading. I'm hoping things will settle back to a bit of normalcy and routine as the kids prepare for the final stretch before Summer.
Good weather would be helpful... And all of those Spring Sports will help burn off that bottled up energy.
As for me. I will continue to pray for Guidance and ask God for support. I have faith He will not let me fall beyond my measure. And if I do, He will lend a hand to help me up. And every Second Counts!
